Learning Objectives

This program in the lush Western Ghats of Coorg offers students an immersive experience in nature, sustainable plantation living, and cultural exploration. Students will develop outdoor survival skills, explore biodiversity, understand the journey of coffee from plant to cup, and connect with the history and lifestyle of the Kodava community.


Activities

Adventure Camping & Outdoor Challenges
Students engage in team-based and personal development activities set in the heart of nature:

  • Camping in the hills – Learn survival basics, campsite setup, and nature-based living

  • Rope activities – Build confidence through Burma bridge, zipline, and high rope challenges

  • Water activities – Enjoy safe, guided kayaking or river crossing experiences

Night Plantation Walk & Stargazing

  • Explore the nocturnal life of a coffee plantation

  • Identify constellations and understand basic astronomy

Coffee Plantation Tour & Tasting

  • Learn how coffee is cultivated, harvested, and processed

  • Understand the history of coffee in India and its role in global trade

  • Participate in a guided coffee tasting session

Kodava Cuisine & Culture

  • Taste authentic local dishes and learn about traditional preparation

  • Discover the unique history, attire, and customs of the Kodava community

Dubare Elephant Camp Visit

  • Observe and learn about elephant care and forest conservation

  • Understand the historical role of elephants in Coorg’s culture


Sightseeing & Cultural Exploration

  • Abbey Falls – Scenic walk to a waterfall and surrounding ecosystem

  • Raja’s Seat – Viewpoint with historical relevance to Coorg royalty

  • Cauvery Nisargadhama – Explore a river island with rich biodiversity

  • Bagamandala – Visit the confluence of three rivers and learn about its spiritual significance

  • Tibetan Colony (Bylakuppe) – Explore Buddhist monasteries and Tibetan culture
