Learning Objectives

This program takes students on an immersive journey through Gokarna’s coastal wonders, geological formations, and cultural landmarks. Students will explore natural caves, engage in water-based activities, and gain insight into coastal ecology, geology, and heritage.

Mystery Cave Exploration

• Discover ancient rock formations and learn about geological time scales

• Experience echoing chambers, sedimentary layers, and natural carvings

• Discussions on erosion, rock cycles, and the science behind cave formation

Boat Ride & Mangrove Tour

• Scenic boat ride along the coast

• Study the unique ecosystem of mangroves, their role in coastal protection, and biodiversity

• Spot marine life and understand saltwater–freshwater interaction zones

Fishing Harbour Visit

• Witness the local fishing industry in action

• Learn about sustainable fishing practices, fish classification, and marine conservation

• Interact with local fishermen to understand their lifestyle and challenges

Lighthouse Exploration

• Understand the role of lighthouses in navigation and maritime safety

• Panoramic coastal views to observe land-water interfaces and topography

Beach Trekking

• Trek along Gokarna’s scenic beaches including Paradise Beach

• Observe different rock types, tides, and beach morphology

• Learn about marine waste, beach ecosystems, and the importance of clean coasts

Sightseeing & Cultural Exploration

• Gokarna Temple & Beach – Introduction to sacred geography and cultural practices

• Om Beach – Named for its Om-shaped shoreline, ideal for observing tide patterns

• Kudle Beach – Leisure and landscape interpretation walk

• Mirjan Fort – Explore Indo-Islamic architecture and coastal defense history

Outcomes

By the end of the program, students will:
