Learning Objectives
This experiential module is designed to build awareness and appreciation for the farming community, while introducing students to sustainable farming practices, food systems, and healthier eating habits. It also helps develop a practical understanding of how food reaches our plates—from soil to store.

Activities

â–Ş Understanding the Farming Community
Interact with local farmers and families to understand their daily life, challenges, and contributions to society. Students gain empathy and insight into the importance of agriculture in the economy and culture.

â–Ş Organic vs. Inorganic Farming
Engage in hands-on learning that compares organic and chemical-based farming. Students learn about soil health, crop rotation, natural composting, and the long-term effects of chemical fertilizers and pesticides on the environment and human health.

▪ Fertilizers & Pesticides – Impact & Alternatives
Participate in live demonstrations showcasing traditional and organic pest control methods vs. chemical usage. Discussions include how fertilizers affect crop yield, soil fertility, and water sources.

â–Ş Traditional Eating Habits & Nutrition
Explore regional diets and indigenous ingredients. Sessions on millets, local greens, fermented foods, and seasonal eating help students understand the connection between nutrition, culture, and sustainability.
